have to do with your smart home?
More than you'd think. A home that understands you, protects you, and quietly takes care of the small things — the same way a ship's computer looks after its crew. This is my attempt to build it, in the open, one real feature at a time.
There's no shortage of smart home solutions on the market.
That's the sentence that got me here. Not a missing feature, not a broken automation — just the sheer number of times a genuinely simple question hits a wall, on a device that's supposed to be the smart one in the room. NAJRA won't get everything right either. But the bar I'm building toward is a system that tries harder before it shrugs — one that actually knows your home and the people in it well enough to be useful, not just responsive.
A home that just works — without you thinking about it.
Someone walks into a room and simply talks to the house, the way you'd talk to a crewmate. No apps to hunt through, no dashboards to configure — the assistant is just there, quietly useful.
Outside, the kids are playing in the garden. The system doesn't just register "someone's there" — it recognizes who's there, tells family from a stranger, and in the evening starts the irrigation on its own — no reminder needed, no forgotten hose.
And when you're not home, you're still connected: a mobile app for checking in, getting notified, and stepping in from wherever you actually are — not stuck waiting for you to be on the same Wi-Fi.
And underneath all of it: a system built to be genuinely protected — from the outside world, from prying networks, from the everyday reality of internet-connected devices being a target. Local-first isn't just a security choice, it's a privacy one: what happens inside your home stays inside your home, by default, not by settings toggle. Intuitive on the surface. Hardened underneath.

Core intelligence runs close to home wherever possible — testing just how far local, offline-capable AI can realistically go.
Privacy by Default
Voice, presence and camera data are processed at home and stay there — no cloud logging, no data broker exposure, nothing leaves the house by default.
Speaks Every Device
Built on Matter as the backbone, with explicit support for widely-used non-Matter gear like Shelly and Homematic IP. The system finds compatible devices on your network itself and either sets them up automatically or walks you through the rest.
Built to Extend to Care
The same presence-and-safety architecture that watches over kids is designed to extend toward elderly care and home-safety use cases.
